MARVEL has just dropped the new trailer for Captain America: Civil War and to say it’s epic is an understatement of Thor-like proportions. (Sadly, the Viking God will not appear in this flick).

The latest trailer sets a familiar scene; the world is under threat. However, it’s our favourite heroes that are being held accountable for mass destruction. And while the previous trailers focused on the relationship between Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes, it’s Steve’s conflict with Tony Stark that now takes centre stage.

And the tension between Captain America and Iron Man is palpable in seconds.
“We need to be put in check,” says Tony.

“If I see a situation pointed south I can’t ignore it,” replies Steve.

“Sometimes I want to punch you in your perfect teeth,” snaps Tony.

Well, that escalated quickly. The sides are set and the pieces are in motion.

The new trailer also marks Tom Holland’s screen debut as Spider-Man. Spidey leaps onto screen in the trailer’s final seconds to help subdue the Captain. And in a beautiful piece of fan-service – the suit has an air of nostalgia to it, harking back to one of his original looks.

As epic as the new trailer is, the film will not be smooth sailing for eager fans. The first wave of reviews are in, and critics are describing the latest instalment as an “emotional horror movie”. Pack your tissues people.

Captain America: Civil War opens in Australian cinemas on April 29.
